BAMF Beauty: Espionage Cosmetics

I’m not sure if there’s a better combination in this world than geek and glitter. Espionage Cosmetics utilizes this magical combination to bring geek girls nail wraps, eyeshadow collections, and lip serums.

Espionage Cosmetics is a lady-led niche makeup company based in Tacoma, WA. The company was founded in 2011 and has since blown up, thanks to two successful Kickstarter campaigns. They “firmly believe awesome is a color,” according to their Facebook bio, which, as a nerd girl obsessed with beauty products, is something I firmly believe in too. Speaking of awesome, their nail wraps are truly what they’re advertised to be: everything and MOAR!

Let’s first break down the average cost of a manicure. You’re usually looking at a minimum of $10-$15 just to get a person to touch your nails. Then you add the cost of custom designs, whether you want a gel manicure or an acrylic set, and before you know it, you’re out around $40 plus tip, along with your firstborn child. And for those of us whom genetics has blessed with fast-growing nails (maybe it’s my latent mutant power about to awaken), this manicure will last you about two weeks, three weeks tops.

Espionage Cosmetics solves this problem for us, guys. As of the writing of this article, they offer 45 different geek designs for you to choose from for only $10 per set. In honor of the X-Men: Days of Future Past blu-ray release, my first experiment was with the Adamantium design.

Even the packaging is clever and cute.

The application itself is very user-friendly too. You get 14 wraps total of various sizes, and you pick the sizes that will best fit your nails. You trim off the excess from the sides using nail scissors, stick on the stickers starting at the base of the nail, file off the excess, and BAM! Insta-awesome nerdicure!

My nails are quite short right now because I like to punch things, but this is the Adamantium set on actual human hands (I, unfortunately, do not have claws).

I didn’t even put on a clear topcoat, and this set survived a boxing training session and an event-filled weekend.

For you gamer gals, their Borderlands collection, featuring cosplayer Chloe Dykstra, debuts today with a color collection and November 10th with a nail collection.

And, lest you forget, Espionage Cosmetics also sells eyeshadows and lip products! I have yet to actually try them, but with names like “Reaver Red” and “Frak,” I’ll probably try them (and be bankrupt) soon. According to their Kickstarter page, they will also be rolling out monthly nerd manicure subscription boxes around 2015. Just….. take all my money already.

Angie feels about books the way Smaug feels about gold: she can never get enough and will threaten people with her fire breath if she finds any are missing. Her book collection can only be matched by her stash of lipsticks, where her favorite shade is the same color as her boxing gloves. Her ultimate goal in life is to go on a murder mystery train.
